New Futures for Birmingham`s Historic Buildings

Friday Photo – J.W. Evans Silver Factory

This week’s Friday Photo is of J.W. Evans Silver Factory on Albion Street in the Jewellery Quarter. The Grade II* listed building dates from 1881, and is a complete-surviving historic factory, full of drop stamps, fly presses and trinkets of all sorts. Walking around the 19-century building is like taking a journey back in time. It’s a perfectly-preserved time capsule and every room has its own story to tell. My particular favourite is a worker’s room that’s dedicated to Aston Villa! No surprise there.

A feasibility study is currently being developed for the building and one which will give the building a sustainable and viable future. I know I use this phrase a lot, but ‘watch this space!’

This is a building that everyone should visit! Please do!
