New Futures for Birmingham`s Historic Buildings

Friday Photo: New Standard Works Facade Restoration

The scaffolding has now been taken off  the New Standard Works to unveil the newly restored original redbrick facade of this magnificent four storey, grade II listed building in the Jewellery Quarter. I thought it fitting to feature this as today’s Friday photo.  Owners, the Ruskin Mill Land Trust, have been refurbishing the building in stages over the last few years. The current phase of works at New Standard Works has seen some refurbishment on the ground and top floors alongside the restoration of the facade. Alongside Argent College, which open in 2015, The Hive Heritage Hub opened in July, and is a space to house temporary exhibitions and has a volunteer run visitor information desk.
