Today’s Friday photo is the church of Ss Peter and Paul, Aston-juxta-Birmingham. Originally Aston parish church, it was given this name after Aston was absorbed into Birmingham in 1911. There has been a church on this site for centuries, indeed, Aston church was mentioned in the Doomsday book. The current church has some stonework dating back to 14th Century, and a 17th century steeple, but the main design dates from 1879–90, designed by J. A. Chatwin. The church is home to many monuments of local families, including the Holte, Arden and Erdington families.
