The Friday Photo: The Garrison

This week the cast of the BBC Peaky Blinders were back in Brum at the preview of the second series. One of the great things about the drama series despite not much of it being filmed in Birmingham is that it has captured people’s imagination and a renewed sense of interest in post war Birmingham. The Garrison pub really does exist although the building isn’t featured in the series.  It was once a popular working class pub but in recent years like many pubs across Birmingham it has closed.  Driving down Garrison Lane it still stands out with its large hand painted sign.
