Exciting times. We are recruiting!!

In summer 2014 Birmingham Conservation Trust is opening an industrial heritage attraction located in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter.

The Newman Brothers factory, built in 1894 and Grade II* listed, made coffin fittings of every description for over 100 years. We are seeking a dynamic Collections and Exhibition Manager with experience of curating exhibitions to manage the Newman Brothers collection, which includes stock, paper business records and historic machinery.

You will help turn an empty building into a ‘time capsule’ visitor experience, using the original collection and commissioning interactives to bring the factory back to life.

You will develop a conservation strategy for the long term care of the collection and set up a conservation workshop to train volunteers and engage with members of the public.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced project manager and a great team player, with a commitment to making collections accessible to the public.

Part time post (22.5 hours) for 2 years, based in Birmingham. Salary £21,734 pro rata. Appointment to begin January 2014. This post is funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
