Especially for Heritage Open Days on Sunday 15th September, our contractors Fairhurst Ward Abbotts Ltd will be leading visitors around Birmingham Conservation Trust’s Grade II* listed factory in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. The Newman Bros. Coffin Works was purpose built in 1894 and made coffin fittings of the highest quality until it closed in 1999.

This tour will focus on the conservation and repair work FWA are doing to bring this building back into use as a heritage attraction which will also incorporate commercial units. (Tour = more conservation, less social history!) The building is due to re-open in summer 2014.

Because it is Heritage Open Days the tours are free, but pre-booking is essential. 100 spaces on tours available during the day.

Safety is very important. At this time the Coffin Works will be a building site. Hard Hats Provided. Please wear sensible shoes; no heels or open toes. During the repair phase access is not suitable for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility. Steep stairs and uneven surfaces. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Not suitable for children under 8 years of age.  Tour lasts around 45 minutes.
