This weeks the Friday photo is of the statue of the popular King Edward VII that was restored in 2010 and placed in Centenary Square after 60 years. It was originally unveiled in 1913 in Victoria Square after the Birmingham Mail  raised £5,ooo from readers. Everyone in Birmingham got the day off work for the unveiling , that would never happen now?

Edward VII was born in 1841 and was the eldest son to Queen Victoria. He reign only for a short period and died in 1913.

How strange, I can’t remember having seen that statue before. I’m definitely going to have to go and visit him!
