This week the Friday photo features a side view of the old Fox & Grapes pub which is a grade II listed building on Freeman Street in Birmingham city centre.

The pub was closed a few years ago and is listed as a key building to be refurbished as part the City Park Gate development, with an aim of  providing a gateway to the Eastside. An article in the Birmingham Mail in  2012 suggested that the fate of the historic pub that dates back to the 17th Century may not be certain.  The original pub was built before 1731, and altered in the 1860′s and then later in the 1920s. Gets my vote to stay!

I remember that my grandpa was spending there a lot of time. Some would say even a bit too much 🙂
