Permission granted! After 15 years we can start the restoration at Newman Brothers.

Posted June 23rd, 2012 by Suzanne Carter with 2 Comments

Last week we received the exciting news that we have been granted planning permission and listed building consent for the restoration scheme at Newman Brothers Coffin Fitting Works.

What that means is that we can start drawing down Heritage Lottery and English Heritage funding and the restoration can begin!

It’s been hard work to get this far. This is in fact the second time we have had to apply for planning permissions as the scheme has been through significant changes!  We are preparing ourselves for more hard work to come!

Why not be a part of it?! Can you spare some time to join our team of volunteers?

Thanks Michael. Great to hear from you. I’ll be in touch about some tour guiding – you free for Heritage Open Days this year? Suzanne

So pleased to hear the great news about permission being granted. I’ve really valued the opportunity to take visitors into the courtyard of the factory over the last year, and to talk to them about the history of the building. Looking forward to the completion of the project.
