An exciting opportunity for those seeking training in heritage skills is being promoted by Cathy Clarke at HeritageSkillsHUB.

Oxford Lime Mortar Limited is offering a 6 month fixed term bursary placement for a Lime Mortars and Renders Trainee. The company takes on a variety of building conservation projects, focussing on the use of traditional lime based products and associated construction techniques using stone, brick, flint and other materials. They undertake a variety of contracts both externally and internally to sensitively conserve or repair original fabric, but where replacement is required such materials will be sourced to retain the authenticity of the building. Associated work with lead, timber, lathes and other materials is also carried out. In addition they carry out consultancy and training to assist owners to do their own repair work. Further information about the company can be found at: www.oxfordlimemortar.co.uk

The bursary trainee will gain experience of working with a variety of traditional materials, but primarily focussing on the application of pointing, plastering, reconstruction using stone, brick, flint and associated conservation materials.

The trainee will work alongside company director, John Guest and his colleague. John lectures for the Society of the Protection of Ancient Buildings and gives advice to Conservation Officers through the work of Oxfordshire Architectural and Historical Society Listed Building Committee.
