Stop The Clocks

Putting the hearse into rehearsals – a team of Birmingham University drama students and their directors – are beginning an exciting venture at the Coffin Fittings Works. Birmingham Conservation Trust welcomes Tin Box theatre company who have been busily devising their site-specific promenade performance Stop The Clocks which will take place in Newman Brother’s Coffin Fittings Factory in June. The students have immersed themselves in the history of the place, reading about the Jewellery Quarter’s http://www.jewelleryquarter.net/ manufacturing history, watching our oral histories of former workers and immersing themselves in the atmosphere of the building.

The début performance from this newly formed company, Stop the Clocks is directed by Jo Newman and Jo Gleave, who are currently undertaking their MPhil in Directing and Dramaturgy at the University of Birmingham.

“We are really excited to be using such an interesting and inspiring site for performance, where there are so many hidden stories to be explored.”

Stop the Clocks takes the audience on an unexpected journey through life, death and a few things in-between.  Come and celebrate with us as we share stories from a life to be remembered.

Stop the Clocks will be performed at the Coffin Fittings Works from 8th – 11th June – more details will be posted nearer the time, so bookmark this site. Stop the Clocks Cast 1
