Our volunteers talk about learning to blog on this website

Posted May 12th, 2010 by Birmingham Conservation Trust with 1 Comment

Two of our talented volunteers have made their second trip the Central Birmingham Social Media Surgery to brush up on their skills as bloggers. As the write up on last night’s event puts it

Emma Neil and Hannah Severn from The Birmingham Conservation Trust got help from Gavin Wray and Nick Booth with their blogging work for the trust. Both Emma and Hannah are volunteering for the Trust and have been doing some really interesting stuff since coming to the Central Birmingham surgery a couple of months ago.

They’ve both been blogging assiduously for a while now, on a variety of different subjects for the Trust, as you can see here and here. This time they learned, in particular, about Google Analytics because they’d been worried that too few people were commenting on their posts on the site, as this video interview with Hannah (left) and Emma (right) explains.

You might need to turn the sound up on this video, but it’s fascinating to hear what motivates our volunteers.

Interesting.

Thank you so much, Hannah and Emma for your blogs and for your support (and Rosie too, although she couldn’t be at this social media surgery). What fascinating stuff. I am sure loads of people will read all your wonderful efforts as soon as they know about them. We must all keep spreading the word and I’ll do my bit today – I’ll email my colleagues in the Association of Preservation Trusts.
