A new book by Dr Terry Daniels ‘Oldbury, Langley and Warley Through Time’ reveals through photographs the changes in the area over the last century. It links old photographs of the town with the same scenes taken today.

Oldbury, Langley and Warley Through Time – New Book

Scenes reveal places such as at the top of Birmingham Street in Oldbury which has not changed much and is still recognisable today. However, this can not be said for all places, the book will reveal scenes which have altered out of all recognition. Changes have resulted due to the gradual building of houses, the removal of old shops and buildings, the change in local industries, and the redevelopments of the 1970s and 80s have all reshaped the Borough of Oldbury.

“People will be fascinated to see what used to happen where they are living now, or what buildings we see around us have been replaced. We peep inside the old court and jail, see inside the Big House, look at the changes in the Town Square, see the Five Ways at Langley Green reduced to three, watch the houses cover Warley’s countryside, and much more.” – Terry Daniels.

The author, local historian Terry Daniels, will be at two book signings:

Oldbury Library, Jack Judge House, Halesowen Street
2.00 to 4.00pm on Tuesday 14th August

Langley Library, Barrs Street, Langley
2.00 to 4.00pm on Friday 17th August

As a current Oldbury resident and having been brought up in Warley, I will be fascinated to compare places I know from different eras-well done Dr Daniels on producing such an interesting book.
