Today’s Friday photo is the grade II listed St John the Evangelist Church, Church Lane Perry Barr. This Anglican parish church is build was built in the Gothic style, by Robert Studholme of Sutton Coldfield between 1831-3. It was enlarged in 1888 by J A Chatwin with the addition of a chancel, organ chamber and vestries. The church is built from red sandstone, with plastered and painted interior. The cruciform plan has west tower, aisleless nave, chancel, north and south transepts, and an organ chamber and vestries to the north and south of the chancel. The church gate and gate piers are also grade II listed. These were constructed in 1831 from red brick stone with original cast iron Gothic gates of trefoil and intersecting arch pattern.
